How to Plan and Run a Social Hour
We occasionally open up planning and hosting to general CS Grads public. Contact the Social Committee if you would like to run a social hour.
Some things to keep in mind when planning:
- Plan for ~50 people (~20 during summer time); varies depending on theme as well. The committee can help you with the estimation.
- Your budget is ~$150.
- Make sure to have vegan options and gluten-free options.
- Remember to get drinks. We may have some juice in stock, so check on that.
- Let the social committee know what kind of utensils/plates/bowl/cups you'll need. We pretty much have those things in stock, but double check.
- Remember theme-related specialty utensils and items (pumpkin carver, marshmallow skewers, etc.). Check with the committee to see whether we already have these items.
The committee can:
- Reserve the Woz (if necessary)
- Post the time and theme of the social hour on the CSGSA calendar
- Send an email out to cs-grads-social@eecs.berkeley.edu a day in advance with the info on What, Where, and When.
- Reply to that email at the beginning of Social Hour as a reminder email.
