You Edit - We Reward You
To encourage contributions to the CSGSA wiki, we will provide an array or prizes to those contributing. Of course, not all edits are created equal, so we have three tiers of prizes. These tiers are not intended to be hard constraints, just a set of guidelines which we will use to determine what to reward to whom.
Students are eligible for multiple prizes. And any student winning Silver or Gold will be awarded a Bronze as well.
For more information about prizes, email Jake (jake@cs).
Bronze
Prize: A candy bar, a soda, or other possible $0.50 items from Buyers' Club.
Sufficient Contributions: A minor edit or addition, including but not limited to:
- A corrected statement
- An added sentence or two to a paragraph
- An addition to a list
- A good suggestion, such as for SocialHour
- A new question on the Good Questions page
- A simple answer to a Good Question
Silver
Prize: $3 in your Buyers' Club account.
Sufficient Contributions: A significant addition (~ 50 words), including but not limited to:
- A significant description of a lunch spot, including details on pricing, hours, location, link to review, etc.
- A paragraph on anything that grad students might find interesting
- A new page stub with at least some information
- An answer to a Good Question that requires a more nuanced answer, i.e. will require adding text to another page.
Examples: Check out the Good Questions page for ideas. Most of these should be decent candidates for Silver prizes
Gold
Prize: A nice lunch, hosted by the CSGSA, from Gregoire or similar. Details to come.
Sufficient Contributions: A major addition, such as:
- An entire page with significant information. Something totaling 150 or more words. Possible openings for this are:
- Parking
- Bicycles
- Social Hour
- Figure out how to get an Event Photos page
- Etc.
- A significant refactoring of a part of the wiki. For example, some of the "Student Resources" might be better all on one page, or split different than it is now. Someone needs to think about how to do this.
- Making the homepage better and nicer. Anyone who is good at layout might have some ideas for this.
- Improving the wiki template (good to know php). Jake (jake@cs) can provide anyone with the code.
- Anything you think deserves gold, after checking with Jake first.
Examples: Check out the Good Questions page for ideas. Most of these should be decent candidates for Silver prizes
Redeeming Prizes
Bronze will be rewarded at every social hour. For those who don't make social hour, prizes will be distributed in some fashion yet to be determined (probably left in the 508 lounge for pickup).
Those eligible for Silver and Gold prizes must note their contributions on the Private:PrizeWinners page. More instructions can be found there. Silver prizes should be awarded every couple of weeks, while gold will probably be rewarded once or twice a semester.
We will determine Silver and Gold prizes by checking the Special:RecentChanges page.
